Meet our team
Andrew Atlin
Andrew graduated from the Ivey School of Business Administration in 1981. He earned his CPA in 1983. Andrew worked in industry for 15 years before returning to public practice. He built Atlin & Associate one client at a time, starting the firm in a spare bedroom of his house.
Andrew's vision for an accounting and consulting firm is different. It's more than just the numbers. He believes that people need to understand their finances in order to achieve their personal and business goals. He loves hearing about business start ups, plans for expansion, or business change. It excites him to see people develop new ideas into viable successes. Andrew believes that part of his job is helping people improve their lives and businesses through better understanding their finances. This individual client attention is what sets Atlin and Associate apart from other firms.
Andrew chaired the Library Board for many years and is still an active member to the Adult Learning Programs of Perth advisory committee. He chaired the St. Marys Economic Development Committee from 2014-2018. When Andrew isn't in the office, he can be found travelling the world, on the tennis court or with his grandson. He is an avid sports fan and always has Michigan at the top of his March Madness bracket.
Akshay Kumar
Akshay joined the team in 2014 and became a partner in 2022. He finished his schooling in India and moved to Canada in 2012 to follow the Canadian dream. Akshay earned his Canadian CPA in 2013. He also completed post qualification specializations (In Depth Tax Course 1 & 2) CPA Canada in 2018 and In Depth Corporate Reorganization in 2019. He has completed his 1st level qualification in the US to advise Canadians about cross border issues and represent them with the IRS, if required. Akshay is a Member of the Program Advisory Committee with Fanshawe College.
Akshay lives in St. Marys with his wife. He volunteers periodically with the St. Marys Public Library to provide financial literacy seminars for teenagers and young adults. In his down time, Akshay likes to relax with his cats – Fiscal and Ledger. He also follows the world of cricket enthusiastically.
Sam Gibson
Sam joined the team in 2016. He received his Bachelor's of Commerce from Laurentian in 2015 and worked in Sudbury before coming to Atlin & Associates. Sam earned his CPA in 2020. Sam works on a variety of corporate clients and assists with their tax compliance and planning issues.
Sam is from Clinton and continues to commute from the area daily. On his drive, he keeps up with the latest goings on of the Toronto Maple Leafs or picks out new tunes for karaoke, one his other passions. Sam enjoys playing hockey and soccer, and is the Past President and current Treasurer of the Clinton Kinsmen.
Kim Wang
Kim joined Atlin & Associates in 2018. Kim has a Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management (2016) and Masters of Accounting (2017) from the University of Waterloo. Kim earned her CPA in 2020, with a specialization in tax.
Originally from Waterloo, Kim is fluent in Mandarin and is currently learning Korean and Japanese. Kim is a passionate music lover, and frequently travels for concerts. She loves reading novels, arts & crafts, and trying new things. She lives in Stratford and enjoys exploring her new home.
Justin Innes
Justin joined Atlin & Associates in 2023. Justin holds a Bachelor of Accounting (BAcc) from Brock University and earned his CPA designation in 2015. He has 15 years of experience in public accounting and has extensive knowledge of tax preparation and estate planning for personal and corporate tax. Justin comes from farming roots and has expertise with agricultural businesses.
Justin was born and raised in South Perth on a farm and now enjoys raising his family in Avonton. He enjoys hiking and is currently Treasurer for the Avon Trail Board. He is also on the board of the Perth Huron Builders' Association. Justin has a lifelong passion for broomball, and is an avid gardener with his wife Mara.
Marco Balestrin
Marco joined Atlin and Associates in February 2019 after retiring from teaching English for 30 years at Stratford Northwestern Secondary School. He was Department Head there for 22 years. He now brings his considerable talents to the office administration. He has an Honours BA degree in English and Spanish and a BEd, both from UWO.
In his free time, Marco enjoys reading, running, and participating in team trivia quizzes. He has lived in St. Marys for over 30 years, and for the past 25 years, he and his wife have lived in a heritage-designated pre-Confederation stone house. Marco and his wife are also passionate collectors of Canadian contemporary art.
Ashley Brown
Ashley joined Atlin & Associates in 2018 as a bookkeeper and staff accountant. She has lived in St. Marys since fall 2015. Originally from the Woodstock/ Ingersoll area, Ashley worked for 5 years in HR in the automotive industry before returning to school. Ashely completed a 3 year diploma in Business Administration and Accounting from Fanshawe College in 2018 and immediately joined our team upon completion. Ashley plans on completing her Payroll Diploma in the coming year. She is also is a Member of the Program Advisory Committee with Fanshawe College.
Ashley is a mother, a dog lover, a baker and a passionate vegetarian. She loves to renovate her heritage home. Her positive attitude makes Atlin & Associates a brighter place to be.
Janny Dijk
Janny is originally from the Netherlands and moved to Canada 30 years ago and joined Atlin & Associates in 2009. Janny is a bookkeeper and staff accountant. She's the first contact for many new clients and serves as the bookkeeper for many owner managed companies, helping them solve their payroll and HST issues.
In her spare time, Janny loves to garden, read and spend time with her friends and three children in Stratford. She's an avid Raptor's fan. If you visit us on King's Day, she will be wearing orange to celebrate the Netherlands.
Jamie Hamilton
Jamie is a 3rd year Accounting and Financial Management student at the University of Waterloo. He currently on his second coop term with Atlin and Associates, first starting in January 2023 as a coop student.
He was born and raised in Kitchener. He enjoys visiting his family cottage on Lake Huron. Jamie is passionate about sports. He enjoys playing hockey, volleyball and golf. When not playing sports, he can be found listening to podcasts about his favourite teams. He is a Leafs fan on the ice, and a Buffalo Bills and University of Alabama fan on the field.
Gerald Litchfield
Gerald joined Atlin & Associates in 2011 as a staff accountant and bookkeeper. He graduated from UWO in Mathematics in 1990. Gerald provides hands on bookkeeping training and support for a large number of St. Marys and area businesses. Clients find him very supportive and patient.
Gerald is an avid chess player, ranked provincially, and is very involved in both the London and St. Marys chess clubs. He makes time for healthy living, with an extensive fitness regime and nutritious diet.
Dennis Little
Dennis has been with Atlin & Associates since 2001. Dennis attended UWO and worked in the financial services industry for many years prior to joining the firm. Dennis works as a staff accountant and, in addition to working with financial statement preparation and tax planning, he provides business advisory services, including incorporation support, cash flow projections, and business planning. If you're looking to purchase or sell a business, Dennis has had multiple experiences assisting clients with these situations.
Dennis spends his spare time with his 5 children and 3 grandchildren. Dennis volunteers with his local church, the Centralia Faith Tabernacle. He is also a chess player, often playing Gerald in intensive battles after work. Dennis has an encyclopedic knowledge of regional diners and is a true pie aficionado.
Hannah Little
Hannah joined Atlin & Associates in January 2023 as an Accounting Technician.
Hannah lives in London, Ontario and loves travelling, hiking, yoga and meditation.
Mark Northmore
Mark joined Atlin & Associates in 2019 as a bookkeeper and staff accountant. Mark originally went to school for computer programming and video games design but after working for a few years in a call center, as a baggage handler at Pearson, and an English teacher in Japan, Mark decided to return to school. Mark completed a 2 year diploma in Business – Accounting from Fanshawe College in 2019 and joined the team shortly after completion. Mark is hoping to continue his education and continue to grow as an accountant in the coming years.
Born in England but grew up in Embro, Mark enjoys traveling and trying new things. He is also an avid board/video game player and has traveled the world to watch the world championships of his favorite eSport, League of Legends.
Tracee Atlin
Tracee has been the office manager for Atlin & Associates since the doors opened in 1997. She primarily now works behind the scenes, making sure that everything gets done, but loves getting the chance to speak with clients old and new. Tracee graduated from UWO in 1982 in Sociology.
Noah Atlin
Noah manages all of the IT requirements for Atlin & Associates. He has been involved in this capacity since 2010. He works full time at Fanshawe College and has Masters in Public Administration (2013). Noah is married to Cole, and aside from being a great guy, we were grateful for his capacity to solve all our IT issues.
Cole Atlin
Cole manages the website and social media for Atlin & Associates. Having grown up in the business, she now pitches in whenever necessary. She has a PhD in Social and Ecological Sustainability from Waterloo and works in environmental consulting.
Watson
Watson Atlin joined the firm in 2014.
While his tax and accounting knowledge is limited, he will often bang on the door to try to attend meetings.
Watson enjoys begging for treats from the staff, playing with small soft toys, and sitting on people's laps. He enjoy walks and sleeping in the middle of the bed.
Hugo
Hugo Atlin joined the firm in 2020.
Hugo has taken to his duties very quickly at the office. He shreds cardboard boxes for recycling and ensures that staff always remember where the treats are.
He is currently learning all there is to know about accounting by never straying more than a couple steps from Andrew's feet.
